Limitedmeans a feature is available but constrained: Immersive Translate’s free tier had its historically-free Google and Bing engines removed in early 2026 and replaced with an in-house GLM-4 Flash model; a login is required to lift the daily cap.
Pick Immersive Translate when
- You want bilingual paragraph rendering on full-length articles, PDFs, or EPUBs. This is their signature feature and Krendo doesn’t replicate it.
- You want to switch between DeepL, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, and other engines per page. Multi-engine flexibility is their differentiator.
- You translate video subtitles (Netflix, YouTube), images, or want PDF translation. Krendo doesn’t do any of this.
- You’re happy with a subscription product (about $6.90/month for Pro) in exchange for higher quality engines.

- You use Anki and want one-click capture from web reading into

Honest tradeoffs
- Single translation engine in v1.Krendo uses Google Translate’s public endpoint. Multi-engine with bring-your-own-key is on the roadmap, not shipping today.
- No bilingual full-page reading.Not on the roadmap. Use Immersive Translate when that’s what you need; the two tools install side-by-side fine.
- No cloud sync between devices. Saved vocabulary lives in the browser you saved it in. Export to Anki or CSV if you want it elsewhere.
